Cardinal Health Director, Pharma Innovator Partnerships in United States

The Director is responsible for developing and executing an executive account management strategy for the business’ partnership and commercialization opportunities. In collaboration with strategy, business development and the senior leadership team, this role will drive partnership opportunities from initial concept or contact to development/clinical trials to commercialization. This includes deal modeling, complex negotiations, internal/external resource matrixed management and significant project management. Ultimately, this position will deliver organization and process and structure, ensuring the business capitalizes on presented opportunities of interest.

The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and Business Development; due to the travel associated with the role, this individual can reside anywhere in the United States with convenient access to a major, national airport.

Position Expectations

  • Builds and maintains high-level, long-term relationships within highly complex, matrixed environments
  • Utilizes broad and deep knowledge to drive business partnership account management strategies
  • Contributes to the development of department strategy and direction
  • Works on and leads highly complex and cross-functional projects of large scope
  • Negotiates complex and/or technical business issues on behalf of the company
  • Independently defines projects and establishes budgets; identifies internal and external champions
  • Consults with and advises senior management to determine project and account management objectives
  • Positions and sells strategic offerings and capabilities into potential and existing pharma and biotech customers
  • Grows profitable business through sales efforts and internal project management capabilities
  • Leads initiatives of significant scale across the business unit
  • Oversees and takes a lead role in delivering comprehensive, broad-based solutions that meet Cardinal Health and customer goals
  • Maintains c-suite relationships and understands core customer motivations
  • Builds credibility inside and outside the business unit through strategic positioning of capabilities as well as flawless execution
  • Assesses and pursues future strategic growth platforms
  • Knowledge of how pharmaceutical and biotech products are brought to market
  • Demonstrate composure during times of difficulty and stress
  • Role model Cardinal’s high ethical standards and code of conduct

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree preferred
  • 3+ years corporate accounts/major accounts sales experience with proven successful track record of delivering results that meet and exceed expectations, preferably in healthcare
  • Ability to travel 50 percent
  • Proven knowledge in a relevant business area
  • Expert level strategic selling acumen
  • Significant financial acumen and analytical skills, product/service market positioning and strategic focus
