Cardinal Health Scientist-Microbiology (Entry Level) in Miami, Florida

The scientist will report into the Sterility Assurance Organization. This position requires experience in the area of sterility assurance with proficiency in microbiology, sterilization, and clean room technology and laboratory operations.

Accountabilities

  • General knowledge of the various microbiology laboratory and environment monitoring testing procedures, including bioburden, endotoxin testing, sterility testing, water sampling and filtration, particulate and microbial sampling, pressure monitoring and compressed air sampling in the manufacturing area.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient in the principles, theories and concepts of the different sterilization modalities and industrial microbiology, plus a working knowledge of the regulatory requirements such as GMPs, QSR, USP and ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • Responsible for writing, reviewing, approving sterilization & microbiology technical protocols and reports.
  • Assists with planning, scheduling of sterilization validations and dose audits.
  • Assist with laboratory testing as required to include bioburden, sterility testing, bacterial endotoxin testing, environmental monitoring and test method validation of microbiology equipment.
  • Gathers data to develop the sterilization and Laboratory metrics.
  • Works with contract sterilizers on handling business relationship, deviations and/or corrective actions.
  • Uses project management skills to run and manage projects.
  • Provides technical support to business partners to achieve results.
  • Provides technical support across the medical segment and center of excellence.
  • Reviews investigation and laboratory reports to ensure compliance to procedures and regulatory requirements and ensures product quality issues are addressed.
  • Must be able to solve complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors and determine direction and adequacy of designs and test results and recommends changes.
  • Practices company safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

Education

  • BS in Biology, Microbiology, Science, Biomedical Science, Sterility Assurance or related discipline; and 1 or more years of related experience and/or training.

Required Skills

  • Must possess a clear mastery of theoretical and practical fundamentals of sterilization and microbiology
  • Must have experience in the medical device industry and general knowledge of ISO requirements, GMPs and QSRs.
  • Must possess clearly recognizable outstanding technical qualifications and leadership.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish would be an asset.
  • May work in clean room environment, ability to lift 30lbs, ability to wear protective gear in the laboratory.
