What R & D Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Research and Development Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.

Job Description

This individual will responsible for managing and/or supporting projects related to the mechanical design and development of new products and improvements to existing products in the disposable medical devices. This individual will be involved with multi-disciplined teams to bring projects from concept through development and commercialization.They will provide technical leadership regarding the design and testing of the devices. The individual will also act as liaison between the Research and Development group, and Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Planning/Logistics, Packaging/Labeling and Outside Partners.

Accountabilities

  • Project and Technical Knowledge
  • Participate in multi-departmental teams to manage product development activities
  • Manage assigned projects to established time lines and generate/maintain project status reports
  • Concept Development & Product Design
  • DHF Documentation and adherence to guidelines and requirements associated with FDA/QSR design controls
  • Product Performance Verification/Validation
  • Product Transfer from R&D to Manufacturing
  • Act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
  • Travel to Support & Drive Projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred
  • A minimum of 6+ years related work experience preferred
  • Ability to train and coach others from technical expertise
  • Knowledge of 3-D CAD systems
  • Experience with Plastics Injection Molding/Extrusion Designs is a plus
  • Knowledge of MS Office & MS Project
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) trained and certified is a plus
  • Manufacturing and Patent Experience is a plus
