What Tax contributes to Cardinal Health

Tax is responsible for the design, implementation and defense of tax strategies and positions. Records and reports tax expense in accordance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Accountable for the tax due diligence of corporate transactions and preparation of tax compliance returns and reports.

  • Demonstrates knowledge in broad area of tax principles, planning strategies and concepts.
  • Develops and implements tax controversy strategies to address impact on all open years and impact on planned transactions.
  • Analyzes transactions for areas of tax risk and opportunities.
  • Demonstrates tax accounting knowledge of GAAP and SEC tax recording and reporting requirements.
  • Performs detailed tax research and analysis.
  • Develops approaches to detect, resolve and properly report issues and transactions on tax returns.
  • Partners with the business to improve tax efficiency of business planning and operations as well as tax compliance and reporting.

Accountabilities

  • Provide support and technical assistance with respect to state income tax audit activity
  • Provide support for effective resolution of state income tax controversies
  • Support the monitoring and calculation of potential state income tax liabilities under ASC 740
  • Research and identify state income tax judicial, administrative, and legislative changes relevant to the Company’s tax positions
  • Forecast monthly cash flow amounts related to state income tax matters
  • Support state income tax planning, compliance and M&A integrations
  • Review state income tax compliance
  • Assist with state income tax notices, estimates and/or extensions
  • Draft tax technical memorandums
  • Assist with designing, implementing and documenting processes to increase efficiencies within the tax department
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field, preferably in Accounting
  • 2+ years of experience in related income tax field, preferably in state tax
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong tax research skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
